Just picked up my 80' accord. At this moment, I know it needs a new carb, new battery and new tires, but any recommendations on other things I should check to make sure everything is running smoothly? Thanks!

Great car! Absolutely gorgeous! Love the Hampstead Green color! More pics.
Make sure to check the CV axle boots and such for cracks. Those things last long but are exposed to the elements and rubber ages really quick. Also do a tune up and get top notch plugs and wires, distributor rotor and cap from either Bosh, Denso or NGK if and whenever available. Rockauto.com will be your friend. Do a transmission fluid change and use Honda trans fluid. If you have power steering, use Honda power steering fluid. Other fluids will F up the system.
Thank you! This helps very much.
The biggest issue with these cars is the head gasket, and cracked cylinder heads. Make sure it's got good compression and is running smooth and has no water blowing out the tailpipe.
A lot of people say "oh it needs a new carb," because it's running like shit. Make sure that it's not running that way because of the head gasket.
Also if you have issues where you think it will need new rotors, that will be an expensive job due to the captive rotors. You'll have to have the hub pressed apart to get the rotors off, which means new wheel bearings, and labor for pressing the hubs in and out. Just something else to consider.
