    A20 Idling issues

When I crank it up and give it gas it runs perfectly fine but as soon as I stop giving it gas it dies, anytime I let off the gas as a matter of fact it will lower in Rpms like it should but instead of idling it goes straight to zero. I think carb may need adjustment but would like anyone’s input. Thanks

Could be a lot of things. Preventive maintenance is the first thing to check (like tune-ups, good gas, etc.). After that, make sure your idle speed is adjusted properly via the black knob on the back of the carb. If you still have trouble, then take a look through the carb section of the Honda manual. There are a lot of electric solenoids, vacuum actuators, dashpots and the like stuck onto the carb for smog reasons. At this age, they get tired and malfunction. The manual describes them all and shows how to test their function. Make sure all are operating as they should.
