? About upper control arm bushings

So this week I've been working on my Steering and suspension. Replaced both inner and outer tie rods. Im in the process of replacing upper control arms and lower ball joints. drivers side control arm didn't even have any bushings inside . I want to clarify parts removed are the only necessary parts from the old arms.


The nuts, bolt, metal bushing rod and anchor bolts? (Not including new bushings)

Ill need two bushings for each arm? One on each side? So 4 bushings total?

Also, any tips for removing broken joint in knuckle? No amount of hammering will suffice in fact, the threaded part of the joint is warped now

Had to removed a broken joint myself recently... I took a pickle fork (props to Harbor Freight for making a hell of a pickle fork) and a 4 pound sledgehammer, hammered the fork in as far as it would go and took the pipe from my 6 ton jack which is about a meter long and turned it into a pry bar. took a few times and got sketchy for a minute as I started to lift the car off the jackstands lol. it finally popped out though.
If that your knuckle is off the vehicle, find a nice solid ledge, flip it over and go to town with a heavy ass sledgehammer to the bottom of it. Which now that I typed that it looks like you've already tried that... hmm... cut the threaded part off as close as you can to the knuckle and drill it out?

This thing is so stuck it feels like its welded on smh. I was thinking about taking it to a machine shop to see if they could press it out somehow

Thank goodness, i got it out! What a nice hammer i have. Now to carefully press ( hammer )in lower ball joints... any tips? Im all for using the right tools but i love to be resourceful with the tools i have already. I could rent a joint press but no funds atm. C clamp and socket maybe? Socket over top of joint and hammer? Im thinking of changing the wheel bearing too while i have it out.. might as well right? Heard its a pain, and for that you def need a press.

Good ole deep socket and c clamp did the trick for the joints

I use a 3/4" drive socket set that I got from Harbor Freight and a 4# sledgehammer to seat all my bearings and bushings now. I used to use nothing more than a drift punch and claw hammer and that worked fine. Just a little slower. A bench vise is good to have but I've done it on the concrete floor too.

When are you going to post up pics of the this car you're working so hard on?
