New to the forum, long-time Honda collector in the Midwest

    Hello,

New to the forum after purchasing a 1986 Accord Lxi hatchback to add to my Honda collection.
Great site with loads of good info.
Will soon be looking for a set of SEi alloys for the car to set it off right (if anyone might be willing to part with a set!).
Would be very interested in getting together with other vintage Honda collectors in the Midwest as well!

    Other notables (all 5 speeds)
1988 CRX Si all original, 62K miles
1990 Prelude Si ALB package, 126K miles
1992 Accord EX manual, 170K Daily Driver
    1998 Prelude, 62K miles
    2000 Civic Si, 73K miles

    Cheers,

    Hans

Nice collection. No Acura badges? And no Del Sol? :p

Thanks, no acuras yet. Would be interested in adding a late 90's GSR at some point but would seem somewhat redundant with the 98' prelude.
Would be interested in pursuing a mid-90's NSX when they reach the 26 year historical threshold for insurance though for sure.

I'd love to see some photos of your cars. Hopefully they've been spared from the road salt that ate up my Rabbit GTI back when I lived in Akron, Ohio.

I purchase them all out west/south so they are all free of rust and stored winters here in Michigan.
The only one I don't have a picture of is my white 98' Prelude as I bought that one near Grand Rapids. Go figure, that one had some rust developing under the plastic covering the rear wheel well so it's being repaired!

I would be very interested in starting a group of like-minded vintage Honda/Toyota/others here in the MidWest for those interested. Just let me know!

Welcome! Midwest vintage Hondas unite! Get collector/antique plates for it and don't drive her in the wintertime with snow and road salt. Pressure wash the undercarriage and rustproof it. And don't do automatic car washes either. As convenient as they are, but it's like just rainwashing your car. Lol. Salt gets stuck in the wheelwells and the underbody and one speck of rust, that salt will only help it expand. After all these years it's a good idea to rustproof it with the black undercoating stuff in a can. As long as your floorboard stays healthy, it's all good. I always love to see true midwestern survivors around here though.

But hey, you do a fine job with them in the wintertime. Just mentioning above for other Midwesterners

Man, you got the finest Hondas in your collection. Love the CB Accord, the Civics (+CRX) too and the Prelude. Those Civic gens are my favorite, the EJ.

    That's great!

It would be nice to have an 86 Acura Integra or a Legend in your collection. And a Del Sol. You can't go wrong with the Del Sol. It's very unique as it only was produced for a few years until they discontinued it.

Have thought about adding a Gen II Legend manual to the mix and selling my CB Accord.
Both great cars in their own right, but quite pricey for a one in good condition currently.

Gen II Legend is very nice indeed and very rare to find in good condition and even in any condition. There is a sedan in my neighborhood and a coupe that some dude uses to deliver pizzas. The coupe doesn't have any rust but the sedan is a bit rusty by the wheel well. The Legend was just ahead of its time in design and everything. I love how low and long it is and has design cues from the CB Accord.
