This is what Chilton's manual says about cylinder head....

I'm preparing to redo head gasket over thanksgiving holiday. Besides the FSM, I pulled out my Chilton's (part# 8255) manual and flipped to page 3-79 about resurfacing the head. This is what it said : -

"2. If the warpage exceeds 0.002 in, the cylinder head must be replaced. Resurfacing can be performed but the total reduction in head thickness is 0.05mm or 0.002 inch. Since almost any warpage will exceed this, resurfacing is not generally recommended for Honda heads."

So, really ? Have to change head every time there is a warp ?

I checked youtube and plenty of people and shops resurface their honda heads.

Now, im not sure about a20’s, es2’s, and such. I would just follow the manual, you might end up bending a valve. Or you could just remove .002 in/ .05 mm.

    Better safe than sorry!

Of course I know people are resurfacing their Honda heads. I'm just wondering why Chiltons manual said otherwise.

It will just be covering their arses from that 1 in a million occasion where a head wont take more than a .002 thou skim due to a faulty casting or something

From what we see overseas , america seems to be a place where lawsuits are thrown about for the most stupid little things.
I'd take a guess thats why they have suggested what they have .
