    Question No cooling needed?

    Hello everyone,

I recently noticed that the cooling fan(s) in my Accord don't come on once the engine warms up. The engine doesn't overheat and the temperature stays exactly the same with no fluctuation. If I turn my A/C on both of the fans will come on. The temperature outside is about 10* C and the radiator hoses are both warm with the engine at operating temperature. Is it possible that the engine is not getting hot enough for the fans to engage and the coolant cools down enough without the fans on? This is rather peculiar since all the other posts I have read state that the temperature rises and the engine overheats, but mine just stays at the normal temp with out fans.

    Thanks in advance.

you could have some bad thermostats that don't register the engine hot enough for the fan to cut on.
I think you can check your plugs to see if they are white i think the white caoting on the electrods means they are firing to hot.

my engine acts the same way. when it is cold, it would run without fans, but when i let it idle for about 10-15 minutes, fans will kick in.

    Thanks for the speedy replies.

I guess when the engine is idling it doesn't get hot enough. I am going to pop the hood after a drive and see if the fans operate properly. The efficiency of these cars continues to amaze me.

    Thanks again for the help.

when you turn your heat on, is the air hot? if not, then your thermostat is stuck open.

also look at ur temp gauge, i wouldnt worry about it unless ur overheating. It should take a decent amount of time for those fans to come on, these cars dont get that hot.

yeah dont worry about the fans not comming on unless your car starts to overheat. my fans NEVER come on while i am driving, they may come on only when I am parked and idling for 5 mins or longer, it depends.

My fans only come on when idling for a long time in rather warm temperatures. They almost never come on at all in the winter unless I turn on the A/C to use with the defroster.

The smaller fan will sometimes come on and run for 5-10 minutes after running the car in very hot summer weather (after the engine is turned off).

I would say that the car has a well designed cooling system. Mine never gets above the halfway point on the gauge. My old car used to run hot all the time and would nearly overheat every time I got stuck in traffic so this car was a nice change when I started driving it back in 89.

Yeah if it doesn't overheat there's no need to worry b/c everything must be fine.
