I don't think there are any seats that bolt right in. I looked into lots of different seats and all of them had different bolt patterns. I ended up getting 87 Prelude SI seats and made some custom brackets to make it fit the original mounting holes.

    prelude seats for me too

i went with the 86 Prelude seats in my 86 hatch
it was fairly simple if you have a drill and some knowlege.
they are fairly supportive and they have an adjustable lumbar

I like the idea of the prelude seats, but every time I find one in a junk yard they are so thrashed that to bring them back to useable would make a new cheap aftermarket seat a better idea.
Besides every single honda/acura seat I have ever sat in gives me a bad lower back ache after about 90 minutes of seat time. So i'd be more inclined to want aftermarket anyways. I sure like this corbeau seat.

Damn, that stuff is expensive as hell. I like the seat and like the sparco seat rails. The only problem with Sparco seat rails like that is that they are not adjustable. I wanted Prelude seats myself but every set that I got was thrashed to hell.

I got these seats from a Mazda 626 GT along with a set of seat rails from an Audi and they worked out great. I have full function of every adjustment on these seats including raising the front and the back of the drovers seat, fore and aft adjustment, and lumbar and bolster adjustments. Notice in the second pic that there are 4 different controls on the drivers seat. There is knob for bolster and one for lumbar on the inside of the back of seat.

These didnt bolt right in either so I had to make some special brackets and reinforce the floor under the back mounts. All in all the project came out pretty damn good. It took me an entire day plus 2 hours to get them in. (The first day I was trying to make the Honda and then the Mazda rails work.)

Mine took about half a day to cut and align. I used heavy duty door hinges for the front (you can't tell in the pic but they are pretty thick) and cut them so they are very tough to bend. The rears are piece of sheet metal I cut and drilled at a friend's place. I had to use a sledge hammer to bend it into the L shape. The seats use the stock holes on the floor and the original Prelude rails so it is very tough along with brackets that are extremly hard to bend (they are thicker than the pice of metal on the Prelude rail) so I think it's safe (just incase you are in an accident).

    oicic.

damn, i thought most honda's allowed for interchangeable seats. i guess that scraps my prelude seat idea since i don't wanna start drillin holes in my floor. and those racing seats are expensive. i saw Matrix Racing Sport Seats for 289.95 each! damn....

oh yah, alluding to another prelude part question, , the 90 prelude sterring wheel is interchangeable with my '89 right? cuz i saw someone on this board do it, but i dunno if any mod's are needed, like the seats.

You don't have to drill ANY holes in the body. That's what the adapter brackets are for.

Yasu didn't drill any holes in his car body, I did. What I did was drill holes in the floor of the car but made heavy duty plates placed under the carpet AND under the car. I only used two of the stock mounting holes. I have the a very similar setup in the front. The two back holes are directly thru the bottom of the floorpan. I did use the back inside mounting hole for the seatbelt mounts. I used a 3/8 thick steel L shaped channel to achieve the proper mounting angle and then attached everything with stainless steel aircraft grade bolts the size of wheel lugs. That way, none of the stress of seatbelt tension in a crash situation would be on the seat itself like the original design does.

BTW, every new piece of metal I added under the carpet and under the car is undercoated thoughrougly. There is no chance of rust because everything is waterproof and sealed.
