    Brake pedal switch pad

There is a little plastic cap on your brake pedal that depresses the brake light switch, turning it off when you aren't pressing the brakes. At this age, they get brittle and crumble away. That keeps your brake lights on overnight, leaving you with a dead battery the following morning...

    ...as I learned this week.

Fortunately, the pad is available in the Dorman kit 74015.

    Unfortunately, the kit costs $8.

Anyway, it's still an option if you want it.

Had it happen to me. Used electrical tape and a piece of cardboard for a temporary fix. Been temporarily fixed for longer than 4 years now. Lol. Thank you my dude.

    Re: Brake pedal switch pad

I would have used a bolt, but I didn't have anything on hand that fit. Since I was headed to the parts store anyway, I took a look through the Dorman stuff and found this. I figured it would save me contorting myself under the dash to re-adjust the switch (again), which sounded like a pretty good deal for $8. LOL. Honda had to have good reason for drilling out that little hole on the pedal and the original pad did last 29 years, so hey.
