    My Cut Airbox

I cut the sides out of the carb airbox while the lid is flipped, it sounds a little nicer, that is always welcomed. Power wise from just flipping it, cant tel at all, but sounds nice though.

your not gunna get a significant increase in power, but it does sound cool, and turn heads of the less educated

just be sure the filter gets a good seal so no crap gets in, also consider a K&N

It dosent matter what filter, those numbers that show K&N filter having more hp is very negligble. The price of one K&N filter are alittle expensive.

with headers and full exauhst it would make a noticable difference. for the stock setup it allows it to breath much easier (aka better throttle response)

u can get em around here for $50can. its pricy but a K&N is still way better than a motormaster or whatever

a K&N might seem a little expensive, but its' really only like $40 and it lasts long enough to pay for itself a few times over if you take care of it.

    a K&N FILTER does not add 50 hp...more like 7

    a K&N STICKER...on the other hand..adds upwards of 55 hp.

their expensive but worth it in my opinon. they have beter filtration and high flow. plus the sound pretty

a K&N filter is about 45 bucks US for a carb accrod. What im doin is spending the 50 on a custom short ram intake and making a custom intake for my carb. there is a post i started about "chea easy Crab CAI" with all the stuff we were taling about how to do it. id say give it a look.

it is not $40 or $50. go online and you can find it for $35 with free shipping.
plus if you don't have K&N filter you shouldn't say anything bad about it.

Sorry for the confusion...As most of you know, turbos force air into the engine (hence the term "forced induction") so an filter with less resistance, and more flowing ability will work WAAAYY better on a force induced engine than a naturally aspirated one...

Now, correct me if I'm wrong... but carbs have a certain CFM rating. It doesn't really matter how open your carb lid is because the carb is only going to pull so much air in the first place (scientifically). Also, the engine has a certain volumetric efficiency... unless you put in more fuel with more air then it also doesn't give any performance gains. You could slap a big ol' monster carb on the motor but with the same amount of fuel going into the chamber then nothing is going to really happen. It just makes your mixture really lean. Now, I'd like to say that I flipped my lid way way back in the day and I love the sound/feel etc. But does it really make sense? No. If anyone can prove to me that flipping the lid actually gives a performance gain please give me a call at 757 589 7886 and my name is Josh. I would like to know WHY you get performance out of it. I'm sick of trying to defend myself with the answer "I just like the sound".

let's say that a stock accord carb flows 250cfm totally open, no filter or anything. a filter might cut it to 225, and an airbox to 220. anything in the way at all will cause it to flow less, and the less you put in the way the more it will flow. it will only flow at it's maximum with nothing in the way at all. so any little bit helps, even though the bits of things like a flipped lid are so small the difference they make is laughable.
