3Geez crash test in 2018 Slow Mo Guys

Since I drive old cars I am concerned about safety. I've always wanted to see an old Accord crash to see how they perform even with 30 years of rust and body degradition. The slow mo guys just made a video of one with a 50mph head on crash into a newer late 90s Toyota Camry. I'm very impressed on how well the 3gee held up. I think typical crash test are done at 40mph and this was 50mph, it looks like the windshield wouldn't have cracked and the doors would still open. Granted this isn't an offset crash but still nice.

I've seen this one but I wish they had left the door on. It really does add structrual suppport to the cabin.

My first car in High School was a blue 78' Accord just like this one.

Having no door on it wont have helped at all. Would like to see the same test with the door in place .

You're right, of course. That didn't occur to me the first time I watched it. I was too horrified watching the steering wheel crush the driver's torso. You can see that the other side, with the door in place doesn't collapse. It does appear to be a frontal offset test though, so the door side didn't get anywhere near the same impact. The moral of the story is don't get in a crash. And if you do, make sure it's a really, really big one.
