Common issue with these cars, 5th can go out after a while. Good side is that it can be replaced somewhat easily as 5th is separate from 1 - 4.

You might get lucky and just need to change your tranny oil. Pull the 5th gear housing to see if your gears are still any good. Probably not though. Find your nearest 3g Accord at a salvage yard. It’s easy to pull of the 5th gear and housing. There’s several videos to view with a google search.

Better than a video, here’s a link, from this group, where you can download every manual you’ll ever need to fix your Honda

    The 3geez Wiki

Click on “download Honda service manuals” then download the 86-89 accord master manual.

In hindsight, I didn’t find a video when I did this. I also have a Haynes manual which was helpful before I discovered these online manuals.
You’re not getting into anything too deep. You’re just removing the outer housing that you’ll see on the right end of your tranny. About a dozen 10mm bolts, then some big nuts to remove to get the gears off. Just be aware that one of those big nuts are left handed threads, (lefty tightly, righty loosey)
You’re probably going to find that your gears are completely gone.
Take lots of pics before disassembly. And, service your tranny oil to full after your work is complete.
    You got this!

Also those nuts inside are 12 pointers if I remember correctly.

That picture tells the story: Lack of proper lubrication... (to state mildly...) Use high quality Manual Transmission Oil, keep it full, and change it regularly; 30-50K mile interval. 5th gear will always be there for you if you take care of her.

    Keep the oil full.

Also dont drive under 45 mph in 5th gear lugging the motor.

I remeber looking for the Honda type flywheel bolts a while ago but I think ARP maybe makes something similar. The are slim head so they are easy to strip out Jimmy.

Try some penetrating oil, some heat with a propane torch and a good 6 point socket to get them to move. Just heat them until they smoke a little "black hot" they dont need to be made cherry red or anything. it will melt off and Lock tite and work the penetrating oil in.

Flywheel bolts are 12 points. I had to go buy a socket just for them lol

Yep you are correct they are 12 point. Reminds me to look and see if I ever bought new ones or from where.

I think there should be a press fit. You may have to use some green locktight on it to keep it in.
