i bought a lower ball joint, which looks like #10 in this pic

Thing is, is that the one on my car looks different. It looks smaller and it's in the shape of an L with threads on the end of the long end. So what's up with this?

Just to double check but are you sure you are looking at the balljoint and not the tierod end?? I changed my balljoint a while back and that one in the pic (part number 10) is exactly what it looks like.

are you looking at it on the car! ?? ( installed ) ?
if so the big part ( upper ) will be in the knuckle ( you won't see it ! )
if it's not installed so i am pretty sure it's the tie rod ends like Yassu said !

ya, it was the tie-rod end. i didn't even see that lower ball joint so i assumed the tie-rod end was it.
