    speaker adapters...

do you guys know where I can find some adapters to fit some 6x9s into the back of my car because they are only made for like 6 or 6 1/2 inch and I want 6x9s back there. also, does anyone else have any problems rolling their windows down all the way with 6 inch or bigger speakers on the side doors?

    i do

I talk to an audio guy and said originally there were spacers to keep the window from hitting the speakers on the way down. u just have to look around in the salvage yards to see if you can find them. None of the yards around me have any 89's so if you find some extras give me a yell and ill buy them off you.

i just made a custom platform to hold my 6x9's. THIS IS ONLY FOR HATCHBACKS! there is a cargo tray going from the speaker bay to the other speaker bay. I took that cargo bay and made a template and traced it on MDF board and cut it out. them i cut holes for my 6x9s and installed it. I also carpeted it. It looked really nice. i WOULD post pics but some ASS broke into my car and stole my shit *sniffel* but i will be making it again when i get my car running and ready to get a new system.

The reason the windows wont roll down is because the stock speakers had a baskets that allowed about 1/16" of clearance between the back of the basket and the window, when you put the new speaker in it was probably deeper than the basket. This is what happened to me so i cut the back off of the basket and shimmed it out just enough to clear the window. I used copper tubing between the speaker basket and the speaker to space it and ran the screws through the copper.

I dont understand any of you

I work in the mobile electronics world, and all that i hear all day and every day is how people want to put 6x9s everywhere in their cars. Truth is, you can get incredible sound out of a pair of 6.5" speakers. Stop wasting time and money trying to put 6x9s where your 6.5's are and just get a decent pair of 6.5s. In my '88 LX i dont even have rear speakers...just front components and a sub. Some pretty damned good 6.5s to run off a radio are...
    Eclipse SE8262...about 119.99
    Boston Acoustic FX6....about 119.99
    Boston Acoustic NX67....about 169.99

i think the eclipses are the best to run off of a deck
Sorry just had to vent after a long day at work

yeah but see look at those prices. you can get 4 6x9s for the price of 2 6.5s. i only have speakers in the doors and 1 surround sound speaker in the back, it sounds good but i know it could be ALOT better. also, try sitting in the back seat with your music on, it sounds like crap back there without any speakers, it sounds good up front but in the back it dont sound like shit.
