    Update on my 83 Project

After a few summer adventures in the 1983 Accord, it is time for the fall/winter project to get started. A local shop is building my EK1. I used some of the specs listed on the Moster EK1 Thread. I have an EL head but decided to use the stock CVCC head for this project. I plan to install the new motor in late October.

For those interested...you can follow my project on Facebook and a GSite that I have setup.
    A few specs:

    • Block bored .20 over
    • New pistons, rings, and bearings
    • Crank to spec and polished
    • CVCC Head with custom cam grind Block bored .20 over

      Crank to spec and polished
CVCC Head with custom cam grind (Advertised Lobe 280/Advertised Duration 270/Lobe seperation 110/Overlap 44)
New valves, seals, and stiffened valve springs
      Head ported/polished
      Lightened flywheel
      Stock manifold ported polished
Full Stainless Exhaust with 'Emissions' delete
      Weber 38 carb

Re: Update on my 83 Project

I should be getting my upgraded / rebuilt engine next week. These past weeks, I have been tearing things down and gathering parts.

In a addition to the engine upgrade, I am:

    • Installing a front 'Big Brake' upgrade (Calipers/Rotors) from 1988 Accord LXI. This includes all new wheel brearings and hubs
    • new control arms, bushings, and mounts.
    • Turned my PS Rack into a Manual (this was a fun project)
    • Making a few adjustments to the rear disk setup (from a 1985 lude)
    • Installing 2nd Gen Civic BC Coilovers

UPDATE: Photos of the PS delete on a refurbished rack.

Late UPS delivery last night. Super stoked to get these fitted and installed. Will have to do a little 'sleeving' but nothing too crazy.

Those are my stock knuckles. I pressed the bearings out, cleaned, painted, and reinstalled new bearings and seals. Below are pics of the final fitment and mounting. Unfortunately, the 88 LXI calipers don't fit even though the rotors fit fine.

For some reason the links to the photos were removed from the Post. Let's try this again.

As a side note. We will be fabricating strut bars for the front and rear. I'll post when we get to that point.

Wow. Cool flicks. Couple quick questions:
    1. What is the tool you used to press in those new wheel bearings / hubs? I had to take mine to a machine shop.
    2. What is all the custom metal and weld bead/etc in your BC Coilover photos? I can't quite make out what you used it for.

We used a standard front wheel bearing press tool kit

We had to weld sleeves onto the coilovers to make them fit an accord knuckle/spindle. These are not a direct fit and require modification to make them work.

Howdy folks...I have been updating my website (click here) but have neglected to post to this site. My 83 accord is back together with the following upgrades: I am very happy with the end results. The upgrades far exceed my expectations. She rips with the engine, intake, and exhaust upgrades.

    • New lower and top end, custom cam grind, and head work including stiffer valves.
    • New suspension and subframe bushings, wheel bearings, hubs, and such
    • Rebuilt steering rack
    • Custom fit BC Coilovers on all 4 corners
    • Upgraded front brakes to 3rd generation Accord
    • Front and rear custom made strut braces
    • Installed 02 bung and AF gauge
    • Custom RamAir filter
    • Other bits and pieces replaced as need
