Angry You know this will happen when you have a nagging wife.....

I'm being forced (nagged) to get rid of the 3G. Wife has been bitching about it. You know it is coming to an end when you are told you have 2 options but actually you don't.

Recently just moved into a better neighborhood. Complaint the car being ugly and old and it puts her to shame. Told me either I have to get another one or totally restore it. Restoration is not an option because she is talking about a paint job at the level of $4k.

For now, she won't ride in my 3G. Too much bitching while I'm driving.....and it agitates me.

I hate to let the car go but if I have to, it must go to a 3G lover.

    Sorry I'm venting...

Is she worth it? JK lol but I'm only sort-of joking with that question. It's all about what's most important to you. I left a girlfriend when she demanded I sell my vehicles and live with her wherever her potential nursing job took her every year. No-can-do for me, cars are my life and a couple I own right now will never leave my ownership. I vowed to never settle for anyone who didn't understand/appreciate my deep interest and passion for cars (great way to stay single, btw). Also, there is always a way...

But I understand if you have to let go of the 3G. Best of luck finding the right buyer who will take care of it.

I'm still exploring all options at this time. Price is irrelvant. If I ever have to pass the car to someone, that person must love the car as much as I do. Maybe next time you are stopping by Orlando, we can connect. PM me.

I guess look for the compromise.

I would consider keeping the car in storage of site so it would be out of site out mind.

I live in a nicer area, I got a car on my lawn with no engine and the hood on the roof. My old neighbor didnt care but as soon as he moved I built a privacy fence before the new people move in JIC there was any friction. At one point I think I had 6 cars registered in my name I have gotten it down to 4.

Good grief dude, Christmas just came early! If any other guy got that order from the wife, he'd be jumping for joy! Go get it restored and give her a nice car to look at.

I'd be willing to bet she can't tell the difference between a $4k paint job and a $600 Maaco job (provided you don't point out the flaws). Follow that up with a good detailing and it will pacify her while you do the big upgrades. Do a B18 swap, nice rims, big brakes, coilovers, paint the trim and you'll have a car even she will love.

Do you have pics of this bone of contention?

My God ! Too bad I have to be the one to pay for the restore (if any allowed). She wants it looking nice but certainy not wanting me to spend $4k....

I hate Maaco. The car's been to Maaco and Econo both once. My restoleum job is better than that ! Son and wife both saying this is not a car paint job.

Anyway, its mostly the age and old style of the car she doesn't like.

I dont know what your car looks like but some wheels definitely help with the looks of the car. Can't do anything about the 80's brown or burgandy interior colors as they really date the car.

Compromise, park it in the garage and the newer cars outside.

My car looks stock just like my avatar pic. It is grey. I know the 80's brown or burgandy is very dated. I have pics posted in the $50 diy paint job thread.

Re: You know this will happen when you have a nagging wife.....

On that car the way it is, you could give a couple hundred to a detailer to pretty it up. Have them buff out the paint, shampoo and shine the interior. Spend a Saturday with a rattle can, painting the trim and you'll have a nice car. People would stop and compliment you. There's no body damage, a good coat of paint on it, nothing obviously horrible in the interior, and decently running. Objectively, it's a great car. It just needs some details ironed out.

But if you don't even want to post pics, then you probably don't want to work on it. Probably best to sell it. It will make someone really happy.

Thanks Snooz. This means a lot to me ! The pics remind me how much love I put on this car....

The Rustoleum job, I admit, is high maintenance. Have to buff it more often. However, I had a compliment from a friend two weeks ago (not the paint job, but keeping a car this old in good overall shape).

I would spring for wheels and tires. That one change will do more than anything else to update the look.

I totally agree and I have been watching what people put on the market. I want 15" rims also because 13" tires are very hard to find now.

Sorry to hear that bro, but I agree, wheels would make a difference. Although, not sure if this car is your daily, if not a car cover could work. it'll protect your wife's eyes, and the car. Win-win lol
    one day I'll return.

Re: You know this will happen when you have a nagging wife.....

Although not daily, I drive it very often. I hate car cover. Its bulky and messy. Dirt on it will scratch paint so this is not my favorite option.

In the meantime, its quieted down. I am taking a wait and see approach.
