Need help with temperature gage

So I just put a new battery in my 89 accord after it has been sitting for a couple months and it started right away, problem is before I even started it the temperature needle was all the way at the top even though the car isn’t even on now that’s all it’s telling me

So probably your temperature sensor is faulty, or the wiring to it. Could also be a ground problem. Replace sensor first I would say.

Mine was the gauge itself. Gas gauge same thing. I replaced the instrument cluster and bingo, problem solved.
