Recommend a Brand of Oil Filter

I used to buy Wix filters, but they're all arriving with no plastic dust cover now and reeking of toxic Chinese rubber. Did they get taken over by another MBA dickhead hellbent to wreck another good product? If so, what are the rest of you using now?

Wix was sold to the Singaporean industrial machinery company Mann+Hummel in 2016... I don't see anything wrong with them, I don't think they really changed the filters at all and I have never seen a plastic dust cover ever come on a wix filter, nor would that be a selling point to me, that's just plastic waste. No large particulate is going to get in the box, the filter shouldn't hurt your engine. Wix is no better than oem brands, better than value brands. If you want to pay more money there is K&N, AFE, Moroso, Royal Purple, but there is little evidence saying "these are better". If you wan't a better oil filter then I would suggest using a remote mount unit, you can pick the element size and micron rating. Wix are decent filters that you can get at any parts store and plenty adequate for 99% of engines.

Funny, Purolator is owned by the same company. Might as well use which is more convenient for you.

yeah we use Mann filters on my printing press here.

Purolators I used are made in the USA I think in NC. I been using the BOSS filters on my Hemi for a while I think there rated for 10k miles.

I've never seen Boss, but k&n and Wix xp are all rated for 10k and "for use with synthetic oil" I would never take a car that far without an oil change though

    PurolatorBOSS(R) Oil Filters

sorry meant 15k but there website is now saying 20k miles.

I ran a double stint on one and went 10k. My oil meter usually goes about 5k miles on oil before it calls for an oil change.

Yikes... 15-20k is controversial... its not the life of the filter that matters jfc
10 years from now these recommendations are going to bite us in the ass. My oil change interval is 5k to "before 10k" though lol. I average 6-7k on my type r, I don't really pay attention on the accord because the tires are smaller... its probably in the ballpark of 4k, but thats not intentional.

Well that's where were at with synthetic oil. Everything is 5k and above except a couple performance cars. If I didn't just drive short trips I'm sure I'd go over 5k miles.
