I purchased my 89 DX hatch in september of 2021, and since then it's served me well (Especially considering what I paid). In the last year it's always leaked oil, but only about a quart every couple of weeks and I was pretty okay with it. Last month it went from the occasional drip, to quite literally hemorrhaging oil, when running there was a steady stream pouring out of the car.
Being the stubborn guy I am i couldn't just put my $850 beater out to pasture.
I usually do my own work on my other vehicles but being that this is my daily I decided to take it to a garage. I work in auto parts so we agreed that I'd supply the parts since it'd be MUCH cheaper.
As it turns out it was the oil pump gasket that went, and sourcing one was a royal pain. The gasket on its own was basically unobtanium so I resorted to buying a new pump outright simply cause it came with the gasket. I had to get the only one in the country out of Hawaii.
ultimately though and after way too much money my hatch lives again!
AS A WARNING
you can get many seals for our cars from NAPA but be careful, their catalog is horrendous and seriously struggled with getting the correct seals (Especially the front main)
