So after my plastigage came in, i decided to swallow my pride and get under there and start on replacing the bearings. I opened up the cap on cylinder no.4 (or 1, farthest from the crank pulley) and the crankshaft looked fine, but I cant tell what bearing wear pattern this is and what it means, i got 228k so possibly normal wear? The backside of the bearings were absolutely zebra print, and the cap had alot of (What i think to be bearing material?) on it, under the bearing. I need to find a way to get it off, and also, get it off on the actual big end of the connecting rod surface, as it was under the bearing on the big end too. the wear looks fairly similar on both bearings if im not mistaken. Anyone got tips to cleaning them surfaces off, without yanking the thing out and doing a full rebuild? and also, could anyone tell me what bearing wear pattern this is? I coated the cap surface and big end rod surface with oil on the cap and wd40 on the big end so nothing rusts while i got the bearing out. But like i said, i never had knock and the crank looked pretty fine, no obvious visible damage yet, but ill run my fingernail over it tomorrow, or once i find a way to clean off the conrod surfaces. If I cant get this pos running, and i give up looking for a motor, i think im just gonna sell it. I attached some images of everythin. green color is uv oil dye. thanks again everyone.
