    Removing cruise control

I have an aftermarket steering wheel and plan on never using the cruise control in my car in the future. Can i just remove this under the hood? Does this do anything else besides cruise control? And what's the black cannister seemingly attached by one vaccum line?

Uh yeah, just take it off if you want to.
The can is a vacuum reservoir because the cruise is a large diaphragm, the capacity of the reservoir keeps the vacuum level more constant when the diaphragm expands, or it would just stop expanding. So it's part of it.

And just judging from that pic it looks like you have a very nice car

Haha yeah I just googled a picture because I didn't have one on hand when I made the post. I took it out and plugged the line. No ill effects so far. And i'm glad it's gone.

That's crazy to me. My cruise never worked, found the clutch switch had a bad stopper on the pedal, it worked for about 3 seconds and never functioned again, and I really wish it did. But I might put in a stepper motor that holds the throttle about wherever I've got my foot, something rudementary, but reduces fatigue at least, I'm putting an Arduino behind the dash anyway. Heck I might even give it an rpm input so it can adjust speed lol

I'm not a cruise control person. I'm not sure why. It especially doesn't matter for this car since I don't take it for long drives on the freeway and i'll be the last owner.
