    86 Accord Hatchback

    Hello everyone,

I am the co-owner of a 86 hatchback. My wife bought the car initially but I have been working on it to get it going. It is almost like a member of the family. It was a daily runner until 2012. I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible. I have learned a lot from the postings in this forum. Thanks to everyone to keep this gold mine going.Click image for larger version.

VERY nice...love the color combo. Black resin bumpers & 86-87 carby trim hubcaps too...excellent combination.

Over the years following replacement parts and rebuild have been add to the car to keep it running. It still gets 28-29mpg on highway. AC is stilling working although it was converted to R134a when the badly corroded condenser was replaced. Ester oil was added. Michigan winters could eat a car alive!

Rear upper control arm on the driver side
Liftgate struts (the aftermarket ones last only 2-3 yrs)
    Front passenger side brake lines
Spark plugs and wires, rotor and cap
    Valve cover gasket
    Timing belt
    Water Pump
    Oil pan
    Alternator
    Rear Brake Rotor and shoes
    Exhaust systems
    New tires
    Carburetor rebuild
    Starter solenoid rebuild
AC condenser, I converted to R134a when the AC condenser was replaced, filled ester oil and pulled 48hrs of vacuum before filling R134a
    AC receiver and dryer regenerated
    Power steering cooler
Newly added magnetic power steering fluid filter
    Driver side interior lock knob

The car still has its charms unique to the 3 gen hatch, unique driving dynamics due to its suspension setup. It still get 28-30mpg on highway. Prior to this car purchased my by wife I also owned a first gen (1978) hatch and a 2nd gen (1983) sedan in my grad school days. I truly felt the third gen was a major improvement and an engineering marvel.

My car's had a fair share of that done too...I still need to get off my ass and fix the AC. I put under 1k a year on this car so on the odd chance I take it out on a hot day I make do with cranking the 2 front windows down lol. Seafoam seems to have solved the few carb issues my car had, thankfully no need for a rebuild or Weber swap (yet)
