Just bought a 1988 Accord LX 5spd (carbureted) about 2 months ago with only 73,000 miles on it. I paid to get a new steering rack in, calipers, wheel bearings, ball joints on the front.
Come today im driving on the highway and a coolant hose split open, dumping all the coolant. The temperature gauge never went up. But the car made a clacking noise for a few seconds and then shut off while going 65 on the hwy and wont turn back on after being towed to the house. Huge loss financially and for morale. This post is kind of just to vent. I dont understand why the temp gauge wouldnt have climbed at all. But any suggestions of what to do next would be appreciated. Im in Massachusetts. '88 Honda Accord LX Manual. Should I look into an engine swap? Or headgasket replacement? I fear there maybe more warping than just the gaskets if it heated up that much.
