    Rywire EV Civic

I think this is pretty cool. Future proof older cars.

I wouldn't quite say future proof, you're making it more vulnerable unless you go full schizo mode and everything that operates it is in a Faraday cage. EV tech seems even more vulnerable and full of security holes than any modern OBDII EFI car. I'd rather not end up like Michael Hastings.

Well I wouldn't go that far, electric motors and motor controllers aren't very high tech and they're pretty modular. That's half the reason why EV swaps exploded in popularity. The shitty part is the best high production battery we have right now is lithium ion.

I don't find anything about an EV very exciting though. Id rather ride a bike at that point.

I think its cool they use a Tesla motor and have a custom controller. AC motors last forever. In the job im in now I cant think of to many motors we lost over the last 20 years. Lost a few AC drives but not the motor and that was all from power failures.

Being able to manipulate the torque any way you want and match it to your traction is the way to go. The battery tech is just getting started I dont think you'll see Lith Ion batteries around much longer.

Exactly, the electronics that are necessary for operation are nothing. It's a whole other ordeal if you want modern car crapware.

I mean we have tons of different types of batteries already, li-ion batteries just come on top again and again. The fact is, chemical batteries are just not a good way to store energy, but it's not like it's practical to house a giant flywheel battery in a moving object either.

If you think the single motor one is a trigger this one might make your head pop off.

I know its easier to put the motor in the front and the batteries in the trunk but i want to see a car like this put that motor in the back and the batteries up front. The front can handle more weight so you could get more batteries in there.
