    Charging light

What’s up everyone! I have a 1987 Honda accord LXI that I am working on rebuilding. the charge light has came on and won’t go away, I’ve replaced the alternator 3 times. Every alternator has had a different problem. The first one did not charge not at all, the second one started to fire off sparks at 4000 rpm, and this third one is throwing 24V out. All the alternators were from O’Reillys the charge light stayed on with all alternators. my question is could it be something wrong with the wire harness or is it just possible that every alternator I got from O’Reillys are duds? I’m planning on getting a Napa alternator tomorrow.

You're measuring 24v dc on the battery?
There is nothing really complicated with the alternator or the harness

Measure across the battery or the ignition circuit or something. Ignore the alternator, it puts out AC and is rectified, the only part that matters is the voltage your car is running on. If that is high or low then there is a problem

EFI models youll have to look at the wire diagram and see what is missing. I think the charge indicator light bulb needs to be there and functioning.

The carb model uses the choke wire as a resistance load for the charging.

Are you using a standard lead acid automotive battery?
