    alternator belt

ok i read through the past threads and couldnt come up with anything...

when tightening the alt belt do you have to loosen the two bolts that hold the alt on? im thinking that i do.

theres the bolt on the top connected to the adjuster thats easy to do then theres one down underneath that looks like a big pain in the ass to get to...

To tighten the belt, turning the adjuster just works fine.

You'll probably need to loosen the mount bolt you mentioned if you want to loosen the belt later.

but that doesnt make sense, does the bolt on the bottom pivet around or something?

the first time i tried this i didnt loosen up the top mount bolt and over torqued the adjuster and snap went the nut! i was so pissed, had to go to the junkyard and pull one off another car, that adjuster is such a bitch to get out bc u can only move the wrench a little bit each time...

However everything is fine now. no more of those embarrasing squeals...

I had to tighten my alt belt over the weekend. I had to loosen both bolts. To get to the bottom bolt best way is to take off the wheel and get it from underneath.
