Is it hard to install a flywheel? This guy owes me $321.50 so I could possibly buy one. Or put it on my X-Mas List. I've been good so hopefully I get one.

well you have to remove the transmission, pressure plate, and clutch. then after you do that all you have to do is unbolt the old one and bolt up a new one

the flywheel is usually on there real good and you will most likely need air comp to get it off. I bet there would be a noticible increase in power with that, to bad they don't list how much it weighs. a little pricey though

It doesn't change the power output of your engine. The change reduces the engine's rotating mass so your car acts like it's lighter (same power gives slightly better acceleration).

Hey green machine, pay attention. Yes it is on my signature, but did you catch the FUTURE part. If I had it already I would have it on my PERFORMANCE list. :flipa:

yeah, like 89LXi4dr said. All it does is get everything spinning faster b/c it's less weight to have to rotate. The result is a better get-up-and-go, but the negatives are fast de-celeration (aka. you let off the gas, and the car slows down considerably faster then with the stock flywheel), and you could begin to get the dreaded "chatter". I would only get a lightened flywheel if I were complimenting it with a better performance clutch. Just IMO.

Has anyone here had their stock flywheel lightened? I've read that doing this can give you a bit of the quick pickup that an aluminum flywheel offers without the loss of too much torque. Maybe doing this as an alternative to getting a lightweight flywheel would help with the deceleration issue that Mark mentions above.

Clutchmasters used to make a flywheel for the 84-87 carbed preludes, but it was discontinued.

i heard it wasnt smart to shave your stock flywheel. because the metal was not tested when it becomes that weak. then down the road later your flywheel comes apart. that would be bad.
