    Question Some help please

Well my car has been down for about a week now. I have had some looks at it and also other people look at it. When i turn on the car it revs, then the RPM's just SINK like this guys jaw >> Once it gets below 1 RPM, you hear like a massive amount of air escape from under the hood. It sounds like its coming from the carb, but we believe it is a massive vacume leak somewhere were we cant see.
We plugged some lines that we thought might be leading to this problem, and believe it or not the run idled, but not steadily. More of an up and down put put. This car is carb, and so there is the big possibility of it being electrical problem. I just need to know what might be happening.
Remember: when i turn on the car, the RPMS rise and then sink with a loud hissing noise, and then stalls. Whats the deal? were stumped!
    any help out there???

ur right about the tech section. That loud hiss is the lack of air getting to ur car. Its not a vacuum leak, when the car is like that, try opening the hood and pressing on the butterfly valve on the carb itself, u will notice the sound fade. The stalling is usally called Dieseling or what not and it basiclly means ur running way too rich at idle. Ur fast idle should be around 2-3K for a carb. Check ur idle stop screw in the front left of the carb and the idle screw (the black plastick one) bwt the carb and the firewall. Do a good carb cleanup and see how it runs. Luble all the moving parts with a good brand lubricant (spray or jelly would be fine) and see what happens. If still nothing happens, loosen out the AJC screw.

The problem here is the choke, see if u can find a decently working choke to fix it. also, Best dude to pm is Andy(phydux) or Mike (A20A1).

thx smuf, yeahwe sprayed some carb cleaner on it, didnt solv it, then we put some WD-40 on the moving parts, and the noise of the idle got alot better then it just faded into a crappy one again. we tried the AJC screw, that didnt work either. i will definatly look at the butterfly valve.. thx smuf.
Anybody else got any advice?? that would be much appeciative

    thx

its just the choke. IT sounds like a wheezing sound right? LIke a high pitched but in a low octave kinda sound. that was the sign when my carb started to go haywire on me. But oh well, no more problems now
