    the truth about smoking exhaust.....

how you roughly deterimine why a car smokes?Mine smokes when reved over 4k and its black. Its not real thick and i dont appear to be losing oil. Fuel Treatment seems to be helping. I dont thinks its the piston rings are the source b/c the spark plugs are clean and the exhaust is carbony not oily.

Black smoke usually indicates fuel problems, such as runing too rich, not oil problems. might want to check your timing.

On my cousin's 88 Celica All Trac, it turned out that this turbine was messed up that's why his car was smoking.

running reach can be caused one problem such as electrical (sensors go bad). i don't know how you check for codes on teg but check for any bad code.

turns out its most likey the fuel injectors not pulsing right. Gas mileage is ok but not for a honda. It feels more like a v6 than a 4cyl. Still havent checked the timing....

I have the same over 4K smoke problem. It's embarassing to have black, fueley smoke comin out of your rear end in a race :lol Anyway, I have the Prelude ECU and distributor on my engine, and right at 4K, the A/F gauge pegs to rich, the needle tries to bury itself on the other end of the tach and the smoke starts pouring out shortly thereafter (4500 RPMs). Any advice on getting rid of this lil prob would be great

It takes off after 4K, no ignition probs that I can tell. Otherwise I wouldn't feel the kick.

My dads prelude has no muffler and it is like on batman when the car puts out a smoke screen. the guy behind you at a stop light has to wait until the smoke clears!
