    Back Firing

    Ok, I have an 87 hatch with Fi and off the gas it likes to pop/backfire!!Ill be just crusin in gear and let off and it will pop!! The timeing has not been touched!!! It has done this as long as can remember!! It does not throw any code!!! I have a full exhaust inc header and an ignition coil!!! WHat would make my car do this?? Someone told me A/f ratio could be wrong but my gauge doesnt read abnormal when this happens!!!HELP

    Does anyone have a clue why maybe my car is doing this????

    I think backfiring is caused my fuel igniting in the exhaust so I would guess that you might have some sort of ignition problem. That would sometimes let a cylinder full of air and fuel into your hot exhaust pipe and ignite it there. It's just an idea though, I've never had a problem like that myself so I'm just guessing.

    do a tune up with cap rotor and plugs, then see if it still does it

    I have done plugs twice in in two months. I have a accel coil with wires that are less than 3mos old!! The cap and roter were fine!!! Im sure what else to check!!! When it does this my A/f gauge bounces around more!!! Usally when i get off the gas the A/f gauge reads nothing-below lean!!! I dont know!!!

    have a cat? if so.. clean it or replace it... if it still pops... mak sure its a back fire... it might just be the noise our cars make

    Ya i have a stock cat!!! AT idle it sounds like it has a cam!! It has like this lope/almost like a misfire-But only @ idle with no computer codes!!! When i rev it up it goes away!!!!

    check your timing if that does nothing try running fuel injector cleaner

    Could It be one my injectors is sticking or leaking?? The werid thing is that its very interminat- like I will drive and it will do and the next time i drive it it wont do it!!!!

    WHat about a clogged PCV valve??? I cant seem to get mine out!!!

    Ok, I fixed my problem!!! I figure i just had a clogged injector because i ended up trying this fuel injector clean that is made for large truck and cars and it worked!! My hatch runs and idles really nice!!!

    Walmart-Gumout for suvs and trucks!!! Its sum kinda concentrate stuff!!! It worked really good!!!

    yeah my car does that too....i think its cuzz of fuel overflowin....may i need new injectors or somethin
