Am i supposed to hear my CAI?

I noticed that when i push the gas i hear the intake making a sudden sucking sound. Is it supposed to be heard? It's not extremely loud, but loud enough to hear when the stereo is off. Is it that cheap ass filter that came w/ it?

It seems like most people with a CAI mention the same niose. I don't think it's a problem.

Is that the "giant sucking sound" that Ross Perot used to talk about?

I had a CAI for a while, but got tired of that sound and put back the original. Even with a higher flow muffler it wasn't doing much for the car but making it louder.

A lot of ppl buy CAI's FOR the sound. Anyway, DBM, the air can only flow as well as the most restrictive part, so with a CAI and muffler change, you still have the stock exhaust manifold, cat and the tiny diameter exhaust pipes restricting it. If you want it to increase performance much you gotta remove all the restrictions starting with the most restrictive part first. I realize you probably already knew that, but I'm just pointing out why it didn't gain much power for all the others that may misakenly believe a CAI or a muffler is gonna make them fast if they get one.

well yes, u are suppost to hear that. the reason u dont hear it with the orignal intake system is because of all the restrictions it makes with small pipes and weird bends to muffle it. if u dont hear an intake like that, that would be very odd. plus with ur intake it makes ur engine sound meaner. and thats mosdef a good thang.
