What do you think about taking off the muffler?

I was drving down Barrett Parkway and I heard this bad ass sound coming from my car, I stopped to make sure it wasn't a bad thing. I checked the whole car out near the PGMFI and I thought my hose to my throttle body fell off. I called Nathan to see if he could check it out with me. Right before he got there I figured out that my muffler burned it self of that the 2 rubber things that it hangs off of where keeping it on. He pulled behind me and I told him to check it out, he told me to keep it off that it sounded bad ass. He said that alot of people on here that it off and leave it like that. Do I gain or lose any horse from it? I like the sound of it butI don't like when it gets 2 loud and I have to shift to the next gear when I am crusing just to keep cops from looking....I am just going ot tell them that it burned off on its own. You can see the burn mark on the pipe, muffler, and the bottom of the bumper where it learned against it when it was hanging...You can't see it unless you bend down and look at it...any comments about it?

Don't forget to install the Folger's Can.

Please put a muffler on the car.

If you MUST have that silly rice-fart sound, spend the money on a good cat-back system.

Believe me - people who know CAN tell the difference between an exhaust that has fallen off and an exhaust that has been replaced.

If you want that kind of sound, get a performance muffler. Leaving it as-is could be dangerous to you! Your exhaust needs to go to the rear bumper for the fumes to be safely carried away. Besides....Its gonna be cheaper than the first ticket you get for leaving it as-is. Just an opinion!

First off lemme ask u what kinda mod u have on ur car. what kinda things have u done on ur car to have it come under 'performance mod' category. If u got nothing on it, just get it replaced using OEM muffler. no performance muffler is gonna give u a boost in power with ur stock cat and exhaust manifold.

note: there are no members on this board to just cut their mufflers off, they have a custom straight thru piping and its only those from emission free states.

I have never liked the sound of no muffler but when I was in highschool a lot of the yunger class men though it was damn cool. For my I would say time to slap a decent 2.25" cat back on their.
