    Speedometer is possessed

When I'm cruising down the freeway the speedometer jumps around... it will go within 3 mph of either side of the speed I am at, constantly, back and forth. It gets pretty annoying sometimes and I was wondering what this is caused by and what I can do about it.

the cable might be slipping but it's more likely that it getting caught up... like there is a kink in the cable or the part inside the trans is not lubed well.

If it's auto it uses trans fluid if it's manual it uses oil.

just check the cable all the way from the trans to the cluster and make sure nothing is touching it or pulling it in some odd direction... also make sure it isn't clamped down to tightly... squeezing the cable would slow it down too.

make sure the speedo cable clip is still in place, remove the clip and the cable pour in some fluid and then push the cable as far down as it will sit inside the hole before locking it in place with the clip again.

I think Honda recommends 10W-30 for manuals or at least I use 10W-30's for my tranny.

10W-30 is for cooler climates, 10W-40 for warmer climates in the 5-speed.
