humm I cant get 6 1/2 to fit in 89-LXi.. I have 5.25 in.. If you have a shollow 6 1/2 you might be able to cut the $hit out if the oem baffle thing. I tryed, but my 6.5s are to big(depth)

5 1/4's front and back. But you can get adapters to use 6 1/2's. I put 6X9's in the back, but bolted them from underneath the back panel.

yes, the 89 LX-i's have either 6.5, or 6x9's..... for some stupid reason, I downgraded from 6x9 to 6.5....if you use 6.5, you may have to drill a few holes, and bolt the speakers and grills down....

Yeah i put 6.5" in my 89 EX-i. I had to cut the shit out of the front baskets and add some screws to hold em in. I didnt have to cut anything in the back but I really had to push em in and i had to once again make new places to screw in the speaker. It bolts in fine though.

In my 89 the fronts were a weird size stock and I bought 6.5" inch jensens for the fronts and they were a pain in the ass it get in, I would suggest a component system for the front for sound quality and for easy fit. The back of my LX-i had paper full range 6X9's stock, they were so beat, there was only a cone left, it looked funny!

Yeah i only have one stock speaker left in my car. The two in the back went at about 180k. I thought it was wiring in the car, so i checked and checked, but then i decided to check the two back speakers, they had about 3 inches of dirt resting on top of them. Thats from the high miles and living in colorado.

My 87 LXi hatch had 6.5" seperates at the four corners. Stock had 6.5 all the way around.

I have 6.5" 's all around, the guy before me shoved 6.5" in the front. Less work for me I guess.

I'm guessing what size speakers you have is dependent on who had the car before you.
