    I have no clue

My steering wheel trembles when I do like 55mph-60mph. I would like to know what causes this problem and have you discovered the same problem. I had my rotors done. I check tire pressure and all, but I still have the same problem. I have a 1988 Honda Accord LX 4-door sedan with a 2.0 engine. I did tuneups, oil changes, etc. What could this be??

is going on with my whip...

It either needs an alignment and/or a wheel balance. I'd just get both done. If that doesn't fix it (which it very likely should), then there's probably something wrong or loose in the suspension somewhere.

Mine did that when I had the 17's on. It happened because my wheels were bent from the damned potholes down here!!!

Check your tires treads on the inside. Dont just look because you usually tend to see the outer tread without noticing that the inside is scuffed. If they are bare only on the inside then your need new tires and definitely get an alignment.

do you have an automatic? i think that's a pretty common problem. do a search about it.

for the wheel shaking i bet 99% your wheels just aren't balanced.

I do have an auto, the tires on my car are roughly a month old. I doubt there is any problem with the tires. When I come to a stop at a light, after I've been running 45-55, the whole car shakes and shimmies like it's going to die. Then it will settle and just shake like it usually does. I know my tranny slips in third, still need to fix that. Oh well, thanks for the info Grant.

the problem wound't be the tires it would be the wheels. those little weights on the outer rim of the wheel are what can make your car shake or not shake as speeds. a tire shop will take your wheels off and put them on a machine and add or remove weights to get your wheels to spin as smooth as possible.

another thing it could be (but i doubt it) is that there is condensation in your tire and it is freezing. all tires build up a certain amount of water inside and if you have exessive water it can freeze and cause the wheels to be very off balance. but since it's getting warmer out you probably would have noticed this more in December or January.

and my girlfriend's car shakes the same way when she stops. she has an auto 88 DX coupe. try some Lucas Oil Stop Slip. i've heard good things about it but never tried it.
