I recently aquired an Alpine V12 MRV-M100 mono amp from my friend. He was pushing two JL 8's with them. It's 100 watts RMS, 150 RMS bridged... could I get good results from one JL 10 with it?

150 watts? I have components that handle more than that. I would stick with something cheap. MTX 4000, kicker solobarics. I wouldnt plan much over a ten inch whatever you chose. Remember that most subs downfall is under powering. If you have 150 than chose a sub that only needs 150 watts. Just my 2 cents but hopefully more will answer
Well it's not 150 max, that's 150 rms. A 400Watt max sub is only rated at 110 max RMS.
Current Mods:
Weber Carb Conversion
2in. Straight Piped Exhaust
Clarion DB336MP Head Unit
Infinity Reference Series Speakers
LX-i Console
Factory Non SE-i Armrest
I understand that but even a 150 watt rms sub is only 79 dollars. What does that tell you? All I am saying is dont try to push JL audio, wtick sith entry level stuff. MTX, Pioneer, Legacy, Pyramid. If you want to talk true competion grade stuuf start at like 1000 rms each per sub. If what you likeis radio shack thats cool. I have no beef with that. I like top quality stuff, zapco, jl audio, harrison labs.
plain simple, if you want something that will rattle your car apart go with bigger amp and subs.
if you want sumple subwoofer for a nice sound, than it should do.
i am running alpine type-S 12" and i am pushing 150W with Alpine MRP-M200 into it. it is enough for me to have a headache.
Sometimes i thinking i have too much bass, but sometimes i think i don't have enough.
you best bet would be to borrow someone's subs and try with this amp in your car. it is all about how you like it.

Alex.
This guy's 8's were pounding really hard though. They sounded like most 10's I've heard and they were JL. This is V12, not entry level alpine... Amp has more features than I know what to do with.
its a nice amp, and 150wrms is not alot of power but it is a good amp. I think you should get somthing about twice that size if you want it to sound good. Its always better to have too much amp than too little. You might get ok sound from a single 10 but i think if you really wanna maximize its potential to go with somthing bigger. I say, try it see if you like it, if not get somthing bigger and keep that for your front stage.
