    Emissions safe intake?

I got that pic off of the Accord Pictures page. Would it provide any performance? I live in GA where the emissions are the same as Cali, so everything has to be tight. It looks like with that setup all the emissions stuff, EGR and bleeder valves would still work?

Would there be a problem with the exhaust gas going into the carb unfiltered, or is there a way?

What about putting a K&N filter in, then just cutting the tube going to the open air? So it would be like just the box and a little piece of pipe? All the incoming air would still be filtered.

Or if anyone has any other ideas for a performance emissions safe intake, please share!

Hmmm, I couldnt tell you about the performance on that one. I'm sure there may be something there but it seems like putting a NIKE on a crutch. You might wanna ask the person who did it for his butt dyno results. Seems like a flipped airbox lid would accomplish the same thing as long as you put it back for emissions tests. Unless of course you have a free filter or you just wanna splurge.

As far as the exhaust gas is concerned expect it to create more soot/carbon deposits on the carb without it going through any filter.

I am not too sure about that because I think their is a secondary valve on the other side that lets in air.

that's my car. i bought that when i was 17 and just wanted dumb shit. just get a K&N drop in. i haven't gone though emissions with it yet. i'll probably take it off and put the old filter in when i go. it might be worth it on the butt dyno, but probably not worth it otherwise. i wouldn't do it again i know that.

i have gotten so many emails and PM's about how to make that. it's so easy.

Hey starter I dont quite get what you are saying but I think I get you.... The exhaust coming in from the preheater hose would basically soot up the carb even if that door opens partially. Now it nothing remotely close to judgement day but qualitatively speaking the carb would tend to get darker sooner than normal. So, ya, I dont really think its an issue. Bear in mind the door only opens on cold days until the engine is warm so dont worry. Very low occurrence vs. running time unless you do sub 5-min commutes.

Meh it would just worry me because it woul be un filtered . Also it would be more effective if the box on the end had walls on the inside to make it smaller.
