Need Info about my aftermarket muffler PLeasE HElp ME....

Hi, well I replaced my cat from my 89 Accord LX-i automatic and cut it off and put it on my 86 Accord LX and I used adapters and clamps... I also put my aftermarket Brospeed Muffler on it, and I did have it on my 89 Accord LX-i, but since I crashed it awile back, I put it on my 86 Accord LX carbed 5 speed.... I know for a fact it supposed to sound louder on a standard, but for some reason it sounded alot louder on my 89 than my 86Accord, now does that mean it needs to be broken in again since I haven't used it in a long time or what? I also connected a flex pipe from the muffler to the stock echaust pipe so that the muffler tip would atleast stick out a bit, so it would look cool... I have no Idea why it isn't as loud as it supposed 2 be.... could it be just cuz it needs to be broken in again? If n e one can help me with this, i'd be very greatful... thanks guy's Lataz.
I will alwayz drive my 3rd gen Accord, ya'll will neva c me driving a 4 door Ford.. lol

i have never heard 2 cars that sound exactly the same. that might just be how your car sounds compared to your other one.

Yeah true, no car really sounds exactly the same but the brospeed aftermarket muffler should still sound loud regardless if I had it on my 89 Accord and now on my 86 Accord, Maybe it just needs to be broken in or something... well if anyone has any Idea's or ifo on this situation please feel free to post, thanks

Angry Why isn't my AfterMarket Brospeed Muffler Loud on my 86 Accord LX 5 speed Carbed???

ok here's the deal..... I'm sure some of you know I crashed my 89 Accord LX-i automatic last summer.... well now I'm using it for parts for my 86 Accord LX 5 speed carbed... Well after I crashed my 89 LX-i I immediatly took parts off of it and took off my Aftermarket Brospeed Exhaust Muffler and haven't used it since then.... Well I also removed the Catalac Converter from my 89 and cut it off and of coarse left a little piping out of it so I can use adapters and clamps to swap it over to My 86 Accord LX. Well I swapped the cat over to the 86 Accord and it went well, then I was like, well why don't I also put my brospeed muffler on it so it will sound nice and loud but a deep tone type of sound ya know..... I also had to run back to autozone to get a flex pipe because my aftermarket muffler was a little short for the tip to stick out so I bought myself a flext pipe, that way the tip would stick out.... Well I put the muffler on successfully without a problem..... Well here's the problem..... the Brospeed muffler supposed to be loud, and to tell u the truth it was louder on my 89 LX-i and it was an AUTOMATIC, can u believe that??? And I know for a fact it supposed to sound way the hell louder on a standard 5 speed than an automatic...... now do u think it could be cuz I haven't used the muffler in awhile and it needs to be broken in or did I do something wrong???? Please someone help me and point me in the right direction..... Your help towards me is greatly apreciated.... I'm sorry for the long post but I'm so that the muffler isn't loud, and I hope it's just cuz it needs to break in.... Thanks guy's lataz.

don't forget the 89 lx-i that you had,had 120 hp and the lx that you have now is 98hp so that is the difference on your sound, but you can make iit louder by taking out the resornator it is the intermedia pipe, by eliminating that it will be louder that before

it could be that the angular inside walls of the flexpipe are deadening the sound. that's a possibility.

and the only reason people think a manual transmission is louder than an automatic is because you can control how long you wind out each gear. this just allows you to wind it out to a higher RPM where you get more sound. if you shift at the same point as the automatic with your standard they should sound the same.

if ur looking on at the engine bay head on the resinator is on the left side.. u wont see it bcuz of the fuse box and everything cluttered together there..
get under ur car.. and look for a plastic square..
it has about 2 bolts on the bottom and i think 1-2 u have to get by pulling back the plastic lyning in the fender..
i have a pic of what the resonator looks like if anyone wants to post it..
oh also after u remove the bolts.. dont fuss with it.. it will either just drop right out .. or seem like its stuck in there but its not..
the bolts are 10mm.. have fun..
lol and when u remove the resonator take ur car for drive.. u wont notice much hp gain but it will be a lil louder from the engine bay

i think you're talking about the intake resonator and he's talking about the exhaust resonator. he has an LX now with a carb so he doesn't have an intake resonator anymore.

Nah I don't really want my engine bay area to sound louder.... I just wan't my muffler to sound louder that's all.... is there n e thing I can do? Perhaps replace the flex pipe with a regular pipe instead? Cuz like Grant2k said, it could be the angular inside walls deading or muffling the sound so it won't be that loud but who knows... I guess I need to wait a few more days to see what happens..... anyone else have any Idea's or any info for me? Thanks guy's lataz

Yes Grant2k is right.... I'm talking about the exhaust resonator not the intake resonator....... I just want my muffler to be a louder deep tone type of sound you know what sound I'm talking about... I'm sure you all hear plenty of imports have that nice deep tone loud sound.... I want that sound and my muffler supposed to produce that type of sound.... now where the hell is it??? LOL Well if anyone has more info or any idea's please feel free to post and help me out... Thanks guy's.

you need to take the cat and resonator off and put in 2.25" piping that will make hella loud

It should get a little louder with time too. When I put Flowmasters on my truck I was disappointed that it didn't sound much different but after a few weeks it had the nice deep V8 rumble going.

Ok this isn't a big deal but I can't stand it It's AROSPEED. Unless there is a knock off that I don't know about. Again it's no biggy but I have an Arospeed Bomber series muffler and mine loud.

Brospeed is made by Bosal. it's its own brand so he means Brospeed not Arospeed.

lxi has a 4-2-1 stock exaust manifold and the lx has a 4-1 so thats why the sound is different, slap a header on and it will gain sound and power back.

take the header off the lx-i motor(if you can) and put it on your lx. you'll probably get the sound back.

Hey im_on_speed88LX-i... is that possible to do? Can I really put the headers from the 89 and swap em over to the 86 LX? I dunno if that's possible cuz the 86 is carburated and the 89 LX-i is EFi (Fuel Injected) so I dunno if it will fit, but if n e one knows for sure it will let me know.... also will it make a difference in sound??? Thanks Guy's lataz...

The Lxi manifold will fit it uses the same hangers... you'll just have to swap everything from the cat-forward. Problem is you won't have the Air Suction pipe fitting on the LXI manifold.
And you need the As pipe for emissions controls

Hmmmm I think I will just take off the resinator instead and see if that improves sound.... seems like alotta work for the manifold project.... thanks for the tip though... Lataz
