Some auto's didn't need a kick down cable to the carb... it was attatched to the pedal somewhere. I have and 86 DX as well as my 89 LX. I may end up swaping out the pedals from the 86 into my 89 for drivability.
Thought I did at one time rig up a kick down cable, but the linkage was so ghetto it constantly needed readjusting.
I finally ended up locking the TV lever on the trans with a spring(return type spring).
When I thought I was going to race i would lock the TV lever near the top by increasing tension on the spring... for daily driving I would lock the TV lever really low, that way it would shift early... say about 3,000 or so but I could still controll shift points manually if i wanted to by switching to 2 to hold 2nd gear then swith it to D3 to hold 3rd gear, then pop it into D4 it I needed to go any faster... however having the TV lever locked in a lower position causes some odd stuttering with the trans when trying to max out 4th gear.
