im not sure on this exactly.. someone correct me if I am wrong, but isnt it basically the same only with 1.8litre instead of 2.0litre... so it should work fine.. dont know why you would want to decrease the displacement.. i got a really high compression A20A1 for $475 two weeks ago...

    look at local jank yards.
i priced one for me, from 88 LXI for $450. and i live in WV.
i belive you should be able to find one cheaper than that.
    look here: https://www.woodfins.com/index.ASP

also, i had priced a few places in Washington state, and engine from japan cost like $600.

when you say REALLY high compression what do you mean?

someone put in high compression pistons? or just the engines in really good condition...

i would love to boost compression on mine...

Question so what will I lose

so If I decide to go with the A18a what will I lose compared to the A20a--what does it mean by decrease displacement or high compression- I want to know if it will still run semi quick and smooth-it is a jap import-325 for motor and 175 to ship- also will my fuel injection bolt on to the A18a the same

The A18A will work. You will have to switch the intake & exhaust manifolds as well as the distributor and engine harness from your EFI engine. Any difference in power will be negligible.

I would say that would be a bad idea for all the work of replacing the wire harness and so on, for a smaller motor
But I guess you got to do what you got to do , but I suggest looking a little more for a 2.0l - Good Luck !

    Exclamation soooo true

:smokin: well- today I talked with 5 different honda tech's and asked about useing the 1.8 vrs the 2.0- well for one the 1.8 will not allow you to passif smog and emisions if you live in CA- also it is a headache-it's said to be a total different setup which is said to be nither power or cost efficiant--- with that being said I will continue my search for a 2.0

by really high compression I mean a LOT higher than what my old engine was. The new one was at 180 on all 4 cylinders. My old one was this...

    Cylinder:
    1 - ~80
    2 - ~30
    3 - ~120
    4 - ~120

so the new one was a signifigant increase in power for me
