distributer or no?

well today i noticed something with my 86 lxi..
when i rev the car like say to 2k.. and let it drop.. some were from there and when it hits 900rpm.. i hear the lil pebble noise u guys were talking about that are sayings of needing a new distributer..
well..
thats just the thing..
i revved the car while the hood was open from the engine pay..
and when i hear the pebble sounding rattle.. i put my hand against the distributer.. and feel some movement so i think thats one problem
ANOTHER THING
i rev the car a lil again and wait for the noise.. i followed it and its at my cam gear.. i dont know why though.. any clue..
like ill rev the car and have my hand and ear to the cam gear housing and it rattles.. just like the distributer.. these problems arnt related right?
could it just be that something small is stuck up in the cam gear housing?
car runs great..
just that annoying sound somewhere between 1k and 2k
doesnt do it at any other rpms

Check for loose parts... take the cam gear cover off and check the belt tension and rotate the crank counter clockwise and inspect the belt teeth...

it could just be your valves rattling.

remove the cap and rotor from the ditributor and have a look around for redish dust or metalic flakes.
