Best clutch for LXI??

Yesterday I noticed my clutch was slipping a little, it hasn't been replaced since I've owned the car, so I was wondering what everyone thinks is the best clutch and why? I'm just looking for a good street clutch, I don't have a turbo or nitrous or anything super fancy, but I don't want a weak clutch either.

I found a Centerforce Dual Friction for $286 and the Exedy clutch on ebay for $103 ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33730 )
I also heard that ACT and Clutchmasters have applications for my 87 Lxi....

Suggestions?

if you dont have any big power addeds.. just get an OEM clutch... they are great for at least 100 000 miles when your hard with them.. and more if your easy on it

Do you plan on modding your car a lot I have the centerforce DF and I have no complaints but f you don't plan on doing too much just go with an oem from the factory. If you plan on dooing more then go to www.nopi.com and look at their selection.

If you speed shift and take off than get an ACT!!They are expensive-BUT worth every penny!!!

If you don't have any heavy mods or anything, then a stock OEM replacement is a very good choice. They do last a long long time.

<--- about to turn over 314,000 on original factory clutch, and it still grabs just fine and holds strong with no slips (grabs about 1/2 way up, pedal travel).

That $103 Exedy should work fine if installed correctly.

Thanks for all the replies, my boyfriend adjusted the clutch a little and it hasn't slipped since, but I think I am going to get a new clutch anyways, my car has about 290,000 miles on it....we found a website with a cheaper price for the centerfoce, but I'm aren't sure which one I'm going to get......I still plan to modify the car for more power, so I was hoping to upgrade from stock some....my boyfriend has had a couple cars with the centerforce in them, plus he knows the owner of the company because he used to sell him tires when he worked at Sears

So I guess we are kinda biased towards the centerforce dual friction, but price and availability will also play a part in the decision.

i have a friend that works at napa and when i was looking for clutches he told me about a clutch he could get for me.....its a zoom multi-friction clutch, about the same holding power as a centerforce DF.....and he got it to me for 180 dollars, thats with throwout barring and everything......my car isnt back together at the moment but should be in about 3 weeks, if you havnt picked up a clutch by then i should be able to tell more about the clutch. but maybe you might want to look into that......

I went to clutch doctors, and they put a clutch in my honda for 300, but in under 6 months, it is sliping in second when u get on it hard.. it will burn through first, but second kinda slips.. and then grabs... I asked the guy, and he sayed that it is normal, and that I would have to upgrade to a perfomance clutch, something about the OEM clutch will not hold up to "hot rodding"

is this true?? are the OEM clutchs this bad... all I have is intake, and a performance muffler
