What you can do is take them off the car at the yard and match them up with your car. Any junk yard will let you do this. Make sure and get the clips that hold the screws b/c I got some rear mudflaps and the clips are not on my car.

Also, there is a little plastic piece that you have to remove from the back of the passenger side rear wheel well to install the mud guard.

Make sure they are cheap. I bought my rear guards brand new from the Honda dealer in 1989 for $20.

Yeah, but I would have figured buying them when the car was new, from the dealer, would be the most expensive way to get them. Maybe not, cause my shop manual was $37.50 from the dealer in 89, also.

You want to see what I mean?

I have a couple of pics I could send you. They're not to good cause I just put the guards on a scanner.

By any chance did you cut off the bottom part that says "Honda" on it? I always thought they would look better like that and still serve their purpose.

DIng ding ding We have a winner!

Yup thats what I did. I bought them new cut off the part that says honda then decided I was not going to run mudflaps.

Let me tell you it gives the car a newer look to it without having them be big and bulky. The flaps wind up being closer to the body and smooth just like newer cars.

What did you use to cut them? I was thinking about doing it, but I wanted to make sure the edges still look smooth. The slightly lower area that says "Honda" wraps all the way up the side of the flap.

I always wondered why they felt it necessary to put "Honda" in four more places on the car!

I used a set of industrial shears.(big scissors) It did not come out perfectly smooth. I had to work on them for a whole day to smoth out the edges back to a nice polish so you couldn't tell they were cut.

I just did mine a couple days ago. I cut them with a sharp utility knife (and utility shears where necessary) which made the edges pretty smooth. I then used a very fine grit sandpaper to smooth them.

They do look A LOT better than before. They look very much like what Honda uses now. I just hope they are as functional as before.

I need to put some glue in the spots where the clips are supposed to be so I can just screw them in. I don't have clips but I have this glue called Welder and it can be screwed into and hold the screw in place. It must b/c it says it on the label.
