good, but there are better for the money...

i heard it setup in a room that is aprox. 25x25x10 in size...
just one, 15 inch, 500 watt amp powering it, and it shook the place, never clipped, and still maintained decent sound quality all through the frequency and volume ranges

the one that i heard was $350

The squares are very nice for SPL given the right amt of power. Yes, there are better for the same price out there, but the square thing is just plain cool looking. Form or function, your call and not a huge gap in output in this case. Won't be all that far behind the nicer subs in the same price range so I would consider the form side of it.

I'd say go ahead and buy em if you like the look. They are very nice subs.

Speaking from experience here, they are good, but not the greatest I've ever heard. Kicker puts out some good stuff, but in my oppioion nothing can compare to the clarity that my Alpine puts out.

Digital Designs, Beyond Audio, Shocker, Treo etc... all would blow the Kickers out of the water easily

Well, by NO means is it the end of the line... I mean, for the price, it's a HECK of alot better than the JLW7's. And there's plenty of crap out on the market that wouldn't come close to Kicker L7's. As far as larger production (higher volume of sales) sub brands go, the L7's are up at the top of the list.

They've Been in the game a lot longer than most of these new subwoofer companies have.
I switched to 2 12" Kicker Comp VRs from thre audiobahn AW 1000s, and I couldn't be happier.
    MY old setup....

If you get Kickers 12" L7 the best amp for them is the KX800.2,
but its best for if your gonna get two 12"s. & just so we dont confuse anybody here. Everyone does know that there are two versions of the Kicker squares. The first ones are black & the second are silver.

haha, I posted a reply downing W7's and it disappeared... =/ SPOOOOOOOOKY

basically, for the price, they're crap... they are nice subs, just not worth the tag at all. I had a huge explination as usual, but it really did disappear

edit: forgot to add, if you're rich and just want something to look really seamless and cool, then by all means put a pair or 2 of these in your Bently.

*Dragging this up because I love dragging stuff up *

I disagree, jclss99... the W7's are the nearly BEST SUBS you can buy.

Sure, they are overpriced, but they put out pure SQ! While at the same time pumping out enough SPL to make your brain burst! I would never pay $600-$700 for one (I'd rather have a Brahma 15) but they still are unbelievable.

i would highly recomend the l7's. ive had all kinds of other subs and they suck ass. i had 6 jl w6 12's in my tahoe and i switched them our for 4 l7 12's and they hella puonded way more than the jl's, i never measured it on a spl meter, but they hit harder and cleaner.

That's hilarious... I just like clicking "last" on the pages and seeing if I can make some mischief.

Damn, you had 6 w6's?! That'd be insane!

I wonder what the cone area diff. is between 6 W6's and 4 L7's... probably close.

Well they are really nice subs, but their motor structures (on any Kicker for that matter) are small but really efficent, but if you plan on running anything over RMS power you risk blowing them if youre not careful, they cant take the power that a Shocker or Treo or Inhuman can, but they are still excellent subs.

Don't just say "HAHA, not even close" to whore a post out, but back it up then.

If the W7 is "not even close" to one of the best subs you can buy, then I would be really intrigued to know what you think is, and your reasons behind your choice.

IMO, the W7 is way overpriced, 999$ here.. my favorite company is Digital Designs, they have proven themselves many times over, such as doing a 171.8 db with 1 9515 (15"), and being able to take 6000 watt burps and live to see many days to come, and lets not forget the 9917 aka the beast, which is the 9515's bigger brother, but the thing is, these subs started out in recording studios even for many famous artists and even in churches to help reproduce the lows of the pipe organs, and when someone takes that exact same sub and does a 171db with it, that is damn good , these subs have SQ, and SPL and will take anything you can give em, thats why i like them so much, plus my previous experiences with them, and they are half the price of a W7 and just as pretty. ... I'll agree, DD puts out some mighty impressive subs. You can throw thousands of watts into them, and they don't even flinch. I have seen a video of some russian guys hooking a 9512 up to a straight up 220 volt power line, and the BASKET broke. The sub continued to play fine (although it was freaking out, it was around 16k watts ).

(And yeah, the new 2003 DD subs with the carbon fiber look amazing )

I wondered if you were reffering to them when you said "HAHA"... but, IMO, these two subs are in totally different classes.

As for DD's have SQ, they are INCREDIBLY peaky subs when ported (which is why they are so often chosen for competition) but when it comes to trying to maintain SQ, they suffer immensely. If you were to install one in such a way that it retained a decent amount of SQ, it's output would be hugely lacking compared to installing it for what it was meant for: Pure SPL.

Now the W7... I do and will always agree that it is not worth it for the price. $700 or so bucks for that sub is too much, unless you can get it cheaper one way or another. But if you disregard the price, what you're left with is one of the most capable drivers out there today. First and foremost, it's an SQ sub (that is why you really can't compare it to DD subs, like comparing a beautiful poodle to a bulldog ). But not only does it reproduce music unbelievably well, it can get incredibly loud too.

So, in conclusion, for the money, no it isn't the best DEAL. It IS, however, one of the most versitile, although NOT the loudest, subs out there. I would take one any day of the week over DD because I don't compete, and I go for pure SQ in my system.

But what I will end up buying is a Brahma 15... almost identical performance to the W7, and $300 cheaper... hmmm... ... http://www.adireaudio.com

    Peace
