    Is my amp dead?

Well, I have my rockford fostgate amp hooked up with power, RCA's to the head unit, remote lead, and speakers to the amp. Its been working great and I just got rid of some sound problems. But now its completely dead. No sound or power comes out of it to the speakers. I have tried two pair of RCA's. It was working yesterday, then today nothing!

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check your fuses, check your ground. Make sure the remote lead is working. Failing that try plugging another source into the amp (poss the deck preamp out died. unlikely but possible). Uhhh -shrug-

what gauge wire do you have? if it is too small that can fry your amp. its like breathing through a straw, the bigger it is the easyer it is to breath. but dont put it too big. usually 100-300 watts =8 gauge wire, 400-800 watts =4 gauge watts, 900-1500 watts =2 gauge, 1600-over = 0 gauge

    I used 12 gauge for a 100 watt amp.

does the amp come on at all? If it doesnt' come on at all than changing RCAs wont do anything at all. I also say to check all the fuses, and ground. If you have a test light that would help out too. test all the connections.

    good luck

yeah...i would check the remote wire on your head unit like 86hatchback said, my stereo did that a couple months back and my friend tested it and my remote wire was only putting out 5 amps, so good ol best buy replaced that for free (gotta love warranties)..havent tested it yet tho..but im sure (praying actually) that its fixed

Ahhh Troubleshooting....One of the best parts about car audio.

Check the connections mentioned above to determine whether it really is the amp that has gone bad. Start with the headunit. (preamp output & remote) If those are good move on to the amp. (Power, ground, speaker leads not grounded etc)

Has your amp been running hot? If so that may have killled it. I've run into many amps that were just plain to hot and melted components inside and overheat pathways on the circuitborad.

if you try drawing 5amps from any deck's remote wire youll fry it, garanteed. Anyways, try your ground wire too, if its not grounded right that can cause problems. It also can be just plain fried, it happens...
