    power loss engine misses

Ok I have an 88 lx-i and my car misses terribly most of the time(except during hard acceleration). I changed the plugs, wires, air and fuel filter. No change. The ECU is throwing code 12. This means a faulty EGR valve. Is it worth replacing the whole unit or could I diagnos and try to fix this myself?

get a haynes manual and it will tell you check and replace also make sure all the vacume tubes are connected and you may want to check your timing.. Another thing many times all you need to do is clean it out real goods like with carb cleaner or something.

yeah but if its throwing a code its prolly what it says it is. Id just get an egr gasket and get another egr valve and put it in... it takes like 15 min if that

two 10mm bolts and the egr valve comes out. swap it out with one from the junk with a new gasket and see if it still gives u the code. Also, try resetting the ecu and then start the car and drive it around for a while before u go ahead and start changing anything.

NOTE: this is not related to performance so next time post appropriate threads in the proper sections not based on which sections u get more users. :smokin:
