    Folding Back Seat

I have an 87 4-door DX Sedan, and I am curious if there is a way to fold down the back seat, or can I get a foling seat from another car that will bolt in? If there is a way to some how convert my seat into a folding one that would be cool too. Any info on how to accomplish this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any and all info

I know that my Se-i back seat folds down, so mayby you can look in the local junk yards to try to find one that will bolt in.. The 4 doors should all be similar..

The folding rear seats were optional on the dx's and standard on the lx's, lxi's, and the sei's. They should all swap out. Check out the junk yard's and look through the back glass of any 3g accord. If you see the key lock in the center of the rear speaker deck, you know you got one with the folding seat.

Um all of the sedan back seats fold down. There's that little key thing on the rear deck and you put your key in there and turn and the seat folds down.

Mine doesnt. And to swap it out I'm pretty sure there's another support bar that needs to go in.

he will have to swap the rear deck also. it locks like a hatchback or trunk does. how there is that u shaped ring that the latch goes onto and hooks. otherwise the rear seat would just go into the trunk and would be pointless.

Would it be dificult to swap the seats and rear deck? It's not real important, so if it's too difficult then I won't worry about it, but if it's just a matter of finding the right parts and switching them out, maybe I'll try it. Has anyone ever tried this before? Or at least just taken out the back seat? If I were to do this, what all would I need to get from the donor car?

Thanks in advance for any and all info.

My dad changed the backseat to a flip down one on his 3g. I know you need the fold down part the bottom piece of the seat and these 2 side peices. You also need to get the locking piece and the rear deck, you also need the hinges the seat sits on. The locking piece already has a place for it on the DX. But you have to cut out the bar that goes across behind the back seat on the DX, then drill holes for the hinges. Make sure the hinges are level, there are no pre drilled holes or a sort of guide for where to drill. Good luck.

taking out the rear seat is fairly easy. take the back part out first and then the bottom part. after you get the seat out you should easily be able to get the rear deck out no problem.

Same here. My 86 LX's seats don't fold down either. But for some reason I have air conditioning. A friend of mine also has an 86 LX, but she doesn't have AC or folding seats, but she does have body coloured mirrors that look like they came stock.

You guys all have the canadian LX which equates to the american DX. The American LX is the Canadian EX and American Lxi is the Canadian Exi. That's why your backseats don't fold.

The non fold down seats are way more comfy... your butt sinks into them more.

I agree they are more comfy. I've sat in my friend's LX and compared to other accords i've sat in, they are quite comfy.
