    Ported head

If I were to get ported head would I have to get new valves springs ect or could I use my stock stuff from my current head.

Not sure... normally they only touch the valve seats when doing a valve job... other wise they stay away from the seats, they even use dummy valves to protect them.

The porting on the pic you showed me looked like the made the exhaust ports a little more rounded and the intake ports were widened up by the injector hole.

if you have a good intake and exhaust system it will help. Otherwise I'm not sure. You always want to focus on the most restrictive part of the engine, air and fuel flow are both important.

    Currently I have
    triflow cam
    4-2-1 header
    dynomax exhaust
    highflow cat
    msd 6al blaster 2 coil
    magencor wires
    iridium plugs
    ajustiable fpr
    bomz cai K&N filter
    modified secondary butterflys
    magnetic fuel lines
    max timing advance
and centerforce df on a full tranny rebuild.

    So it should go well.

i have all the mods you have, but i have a bigger cam... and subwoofers.. ill probably remove them when its time for the meet... and the spare tire is taking a flight too.. nad ill run on my lightweight aluminums... its gonna be very close...

With all those mods, porting the head should help, but do you have an intake? Short ram or CAI will complement those mods well.

You don't need new valve springs unless you are going for serious lift and duration, like 280 / 0.44". That's a mild race cam that may lope at idle and fail emissions.

it would probably be best if you got new valves and shit... ask turfnsurf, his head/intake manifold/throttle body is coming back to him shortly.. and then we'll see how great the porting shit is..
