Question Anyone know what this is? Aftermarket?

I bought my 3g at a used car lot about a year ago. For 4-5 months I never cleaned out the trunk from the previous owner (was a crappy car lot) .. .i ended up finding alot of highspeed LAN cable and other broadband supplies... paperwork states that he was a tech for the Airforce ( i live near a base) but anyways..

I also found a small black box about 4 inches wide by 6 inches long and about an anch and a half in thickness. I look around under the dash and and under the center column I see an empty plug. The plug matches with the box but the box tripped me out because it said "Made in USA" on it.

I looked around in scrapyards for a clue onto what it is... i see it on alot of other 3gs...most of the time the box is grey and some times its black... but always says something about japan.. or in forign print. ALso seems to be a bit different whether its an auto car or a 5 speed. So Im assuming its something to control the tranny? I dont think I can post pics on here yet.. a bit new.. not sure how to but Ill post the specs on it.. I havent plugged it in yet.. not sure if it was disconnected and tossed in the trunk for a reason.

    any help would be apreciated.

    Prozac.

    Specs:

    TRW Made In USA

    38600-SE5-A01

    Thanks again...

Well your car could have been made in the usa...

The box under the center console does a few things

    Does your side markers work?
Does your car chime when the key is left in the ignition and you open your door?

Heh...I take it the answer here is solved. Ya can either go w/ a detinator or a box that controls the chimes and the side flashers...take your pick, and choose wisely...heh

That's got to be the cleanest living DX I've ever seen.
