need sizing advice about my tires

I have had the same pair of tires since i bought the car 5 years ago and now i really need to replace them. I've got the LXi alloys and currently using 185-70r14. But they are suppose to be 195-60r14 (i think) so which one should I get??? and why???

Oh man what a terrible size to have on the car, well at least they served you well I guess. Definately get the right 19560-14 size now that you need new tires. What do you want and need out of your next tires? High performance All-season or high performance summer tires? And are their any brands you don't like or would never own?

hmm.. well at least they will be cheap... lol. Try to ditch those asap man and throw on some 205/45-16's. For now I would get either the:

Yokohama Avid H4's 360 treadwear and HR speed rating... $51ea



or the:

Dunlop SP Sport A2's 420 treadwear and HR rated. $53ea

I have those Dunlop A2s and have ben pleased so far.

He's obviously got 14" rims, so unless he gets new wheels, he'll need 14" tires. Get 195/60/14's. They'll make your wheel + tire size standard (23.12") so your speedometer and odometer will be accurate (Right now your wheel/tire size is 24.2"). Your acceleration will likely improve and the wider tread will give you better handling. I have Pirelli P4000's and they're great (but expensive -- $83). Someone wanna check my math?

3G wheel+tire size = 195 x .6 / 10 / 2.54 + 14 = 23.12"

A good website is www.tirerack.com. Tell it what car you have and what your priorities are (handling, comfort, economy, etc) and it will recommend a tire.

And if you want to extend the life of your tires, get non-directional ones so they can be rotated to all four wheels. You might have to call to ask which tires are non-directional, unless you can tell from the tread pictures. I think all symmetric treads (like the one pictured above) are directional, i.e. the point always points in the direction of tire travel.

I guess that was more than $0.02... maybe like 2$? sorry...
