    I need a new engine...

My car has about 230,000 miles on it and it's putting out blue smoke like mad. I was sitting in my car waiting for someone today and the wind was blowing the exhaust to the front of the car and I could see all the blue smoke. It's time for a new engine. I want one of those JDM engine that have like 30,000 miles on them. What do you guys suggest? I know you guys know a lot in this area. I don't want something that my existing parts wont work with-- I dont want to have to buy new things. Where would I get the engine? How would I get it? How much would it be? Any information you guys have is really helpful

    Thanks a lot guys

I was thinking a new car but this car is very clean, and I've put a lot of work into it. Not worth losing in my opinion.

I want a carb engineand it doensnt really matter about the engine. I'm not all into performance, I am into keeping the car clean and good looking appearance wise. I dont want a big expensive engine.

    Should I get it rebuilt?

You should be able to get a good used A20. Ask your mechanic if he knows of any engine importers, or look at the engine swap section. The same importers that get B20a's I'm sure they get A20's too.

ok. i didn't really feel like searching the threads or creating a new one. does this sound like it could be a carb. when you hit my gas pedal it's almost like it says "what?" and gets all confused and takes a minute to go and then once you get up past 1500 it like burps then you wait a second and it finally understands and "vroom". and it like bucks and shit like you don't know how to drive a stick but every other stick i drive fine. i've only been driving a year but i think i got it down. bad clutch? i should just junk this car. but for some reason i keep wanting to fix it after i see all of yours looking all hot and shit.

this is my random comment in no particular thread of the day.
one of my 88 lx's is up for parts. good engine and transmission. pretty much everything is there. the fenders and hood are bad but other than that it's pretty good.

RIP my beutiful 5g coupe. May the villans rot in hell!

that's the thing all of the maintinece is up to date. i just remembered that the oxy sensor isn't hooked up. i bought a universal oxygen sensor at auto zone and left it in my sister's car. so when i ipped the connecter off of the eng of the old oxy sensor to put it on the new one it wasn't there. so no oxy sensor connected. all it's doing is plugging up the hole.

Can we please get back on topic? If you're going to ask a question completely unrelated you could at least make your own thread.

this is related. it is related to needing a new engine. in my opinion this belongs in the market place section since you're not asking any technical questions. and yes i replaced both fuel filters a few mopnths ago.

All I have asked is technical questions. Your questions are asking what is wrong. My questions are technical questions asking what I should do engine wise. Your posts are not helping me in one bit. Everyone else has provided useful information regarding ME, the purpose of this thread.

Please, just make your own thread.

Greg, my mechanic wants "around a grand" to rebuild the engine. Any idea how this compares to the price of a JDM import? What would you do?

dude. id just go out and buy a junk yard engine. in my opnion a 3 gee accord is an economy vehicle and unless you're going to go all the way with it it's just not worth it.

I am not going to find a junkyard engine, I would wind up in the same mess I am in now. It's not worth it. I found a place nearby who wants 295 bucks for a JDM import so I am going to get that I think. Thanks anyway.

10,000 to 30,000. Unsure about that part. I'm going to call Monday. It has a year warrenty and it's clean and no problems whatsoever. I'm sure they'll ding me with installation.

I THINK the pistons got worn and allowed oil to pass. Sometimes it blow blue smoke like mad, others it doesnt.

if it doesnt pan out with the engine for 295$ check to see how much they would charge to bore out your engine and get new pistons and rings if that was the only probemo
